I have been contemplating alot of things in my life lately and things have been getting the better of me lately. I am having a hard tim at uni and really need the break that is coming up soon. Do you ever think about stuff that happened in the past? ever wish you could change it? sometimes i do and sometimes i don't, i think the past shapes who we are and our future ands without it we would be completely different people or be in different situations. Regardless of my stuff ups in life, i have learnt from them and believe that i am a better person because of them. the stuff ups were life's ways of letting me know where i could end up if i didn't clean up my act! thank God i got the message then before it was too late. anyway i hope you are all feeling a bit better then me at the moment, but i will get there.

sex and disabilities, the barriers

It's difficult for some of us to stare back at an airbrushed image of physical perfection, say in Playboy or muscle magazines, and not start contemplating deeper issues of self-worth. We keep telling ourselves that the quality of our lives and our attractiveness should have nothing to do with flawless skin and bodily virtue-but they seem to anyway.

In the realm of disability, these issues are even more intensely felt. They go right to the heart of sexual self-esteem for those of us struggling to maintain visibility within a culture that imposes ruthless standards for attractiveness and desirability. The mandate, or so it would seem for individuals with disabilities, requires a sort of physical legitimacy in order to obtain love and acceptance, with a certain sexual model as the gateway to both.

We are overwhelmed with television, magazine, and billboard ads using conventionally beautiful bodies to sell everything from jeans to taco chips. Sexual value has a certain cultural look that typically does not include people with disabilities.

When was the last time you saw an attractive woman in a wheelchair selling Slim-Fast, or a Paralympic athlete posing for an ad?

As popular culture continues to promote-and blithely accept-images that connect sexuality to body perfection and beauty, the polarisation between those who have the ability to meet those standards and those who are unable to, will deepen.

You know life is a journey. you strive for goals, ambitions, and a generally happy or fulfilled life. BUT is there a catch to having a good life? well this question has a multitude of answers. A good life is whatever you make of it and never giving up on your hopes and dreams. ALL things are possible if you believe in them and believe in yourself. the key is to never take anything less then your worth and to never let others bring you down. when you take a step forward never let anyone pull you back.
